Prepare product photos for your Shopify store
Shopify is more forgiving than the marketplaces, which makes consistency your job rather than theirs.
Square, and the same square
Shopify does not enforce a shape, so a store with mixed aspect ratios looks untidy in grid views. PrepShot pads everything to one frame, on a background you choose.
Zoom needs resolution
Product zoom needs meaningfully more than the display size. Shooting and exporting larger costs nothing and is not recoverable later.
Collection tiles are theme-dependent
There is no published collection-image size, because it depends on your theme. The shipped preset says so in its own notes rather than presenting a convention as a requirement.
Shopify re-encodes anyway
It serves its own optimised formats, so uploading at the maximum file size buys nothing. Sensible quality and correct dimensions matter more than sheer bytes.
Requirements change, check the date
Marketplace image requirements move, and any article listing exact figures is accurate on the day it was written and decaying from then on. PrepShot’s presets each record the date a human last checked them against the platform’s own documentation, and link to the page they came from, so you can see how stale a value is instead of assuming.
